About 616
616 was started in the ’90s and changed ownership several times before we started attending in 2010. In January 2012, we became the new owners and began to make it something special.
We have come a long way in making 616 more than just a party — it’s a community. 616 welcomes couples and singles looking to connect with like-minded adults in a safe, inclusive environment built on honest communication, mutual respect, and clear personal boundaries.
Our goal is to bring people closer together by encouraging openness about desires, wishes, hopes, and needs. Our core members look out for one another and for newcomers, sharing advice and stories to help everyone find what they’re looking for while exploring all the possibilities that appeal to them.
We support each other’s small businesses, celebrate what makes each of us unique, encourage each other to be the best version of ourselves, and help each other discover friends with shared hobbies and interests — and find new ones to explore.
Live your best life. Wear that outfit you love but never had a reason to wear. Express yourself in ways you haven’t before. Be creative. Compliment a stranger and make a new friend.
After attending your first event posted on this website, members can be invited to our social media groups, which feature a wide variety of smaller gatherings catered to different interests — including camping trips, bar nights, motorcycle rides, board game nights, yoga classes, and an annual women’s trip to Cedar Point.
It would be hard to find a more uplifting, accepting, and genuine group of new friends. We can’t wait to have you join us!
What’s the Secret to Having a Great Time at 616?
One of our members shares some hard-earned wisdom:
“There’s something I first noticed after 3 or 4 years — it’s an elusive thing. Every gathering has its own energy. That energy takes on the personality of the hosts, but it’s really the collective energy of everyone there. If the hosts are positive and welcoming, they attract positive and welcoming people, and that reinforces itself. If the hosts bring drama, the event becomes a magnet for it.
The mood changes from event to event and is affected by everyone present. The hosts set the tone, but the guests make the party. The most vocal people have the strongest effect.
Once I started to see this, I realized that the more hands I shook, the better the night — for me, anyway. But eventually I saw that if I introduced people around, that welcoming energy became contagious. Just as conflict can affect a whole night, putting out genuine warmth can have an observable impact. You just have to put yourself out there.
The secret? Shake lots of hands. Meet lots of people. Break out of cliques. Introduce people around. That’s really all it is.
The ‘life of the party’ is not a person — it’s everyone. It has to be, because if it’s about you, you close yourself off from that collective energy. Including even the wallflowers, to the extent they’re comfortable, has a wonderful impact.
These dynamics are present in everything from small meetups to large events. If you’re curious, look for it — the energies, the personalities, the moods. It’s an incredible rush.”
